This self-portrait is a tribute to "The Girl with the Pearl Earring," based on findings from a multidisciplinary research project that ran from February 2018 to spring 2020. The Mauritshuis in The Hague collaborated with the Nicas and other partners led by Dr Abbie Vandivere, curator of paintings at the Mauritshuis, to gain new insights into Vermeer's masterpiece.
During this period, the painting was extensively examined with sophisticated equipment, including microscopes and macro-XRF scanners. Minuscule samples from the paint skin, including some from the 1990s and four recent ones, were analysed. This examination revealed that the girl originally had eyebrows and eyelashes and was standing in front of a green curtain.

This artwork offers a fascinating look at one of the world's most famous paintings and invites reflection on the techniques and visions of the old masters. It is a perfect addition for anyone who wants to include a piece of art history and modern interpretation in their collection.
