This landscape photograph, taken near Den Oever on the Wadden Sea, shows the impressive interplay between nature and the remnant of human construction. A threatening sky over the deserted coastal landscape, where nature takes over.
Seaweed-covered wooden posts of an old breakwater disappear into the still water, like a silent reminder of what once was. The colours of algae, the calm surface of the water and the soft evening light bring a serene, almost poetic calm.
This picture shows the beauty of transience and the timeless soul of the Wadden Sea.
