Shells belong to nature as far as I am concerned. They are works of art by nature. It is extraordinary how such a, often small, mollusk can make such a beautiful structure, a structure that is almost exactly the same for every species, a structure in which a shell shape is made according to fixed lines and patterns. It amazes me how this is possible. That is why I am a huge lover of shells, I find them amazingly beautiful.
This photo was taken of three shells. They are large spined heart shells (Acanthocardia echinata). These shells have a particularly beautiful stripe pattern in relief.
I wanted to emphasize the naturalness of these shells and their natural color by adding a background with the same characteristics.
Therefore, I used multiple exposures to mix two photos together. The second photo is of a rough piece of wood, beautiful with grain and a knot in the middle. The wood is also a natural material in a natural color.
The texture of the wood is now nicely visible through the shells.
The end result is a beautiful rustic natural look.
A beautiful calming photo that gives you a zen feeling and fits perfectly in your bedroom, for example.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
