The Siberian Ground squirrel, or Tamias sibiricus or Eutamias sibiricus.
Two scientific names circulate, also separately.
This Siberian ground squirrel is highly visible, not shy, though observant and cautious.
Nice animal to see, moves smoothly and hops pleasantly.
A lot smaller than the red squirrel that we see mostly in trees.
The name ground squirrel is correct, you see them almost exclusively on the ground.
Very photogenic animal, here busy with a meal.
