Silence under the Tower of Elst by Nicky Kapel

Snow in Elst 2026.
This winter shot shows Elst in a rare moment of stillness. As soft snowflakes fill the air, the village seems momentarily detached from time. Elst's striking tower rises stately above the houses, like a beacon of history and recognition. For generations, this tower has watched daily life: from market days and church services to quiet Sundays and busy weekday mornings.

The snow muffles the sound and softens the shapes. Streets that normally have movement and noise now become quiet lines in a white landscape. The brick houses, winding road and road signs take on an almost graphic simplicity. The contrast between the warm red of the brick and the cool white of the snow gives the image a subdued, almost picturesque feel.

This picture invites you to pause for a moment. To look at the familiar from a different perspective. Elst, so familiar and mundane, here shows itself from a poetic side. A village that breathes, even when everything seems to have calmed down. This image is an ode to the beauty of the ordinary, captured in an extraordinary moment of winter tranquillity.
