"Simplicity in pink: Reflection of a Zeeland Knot" is a photo of a beautiful white and green flower of an Astrantia Major ( in the Netherlands this plant is also called "Zeeuws Knoopje").
For this photo, I placed this flower on a reflective material, so that the flower can also be seen in the ground plane. But because this material is not smooth and has a distinct texture, you see an abstract version the flower (and upside down, of course).
Because there is a non-symmetrical texture in the material, it creates a fractured reflection that feels painterly and dreamlike. The background colour in this picture gives it a soft and calm look.
When you zoom in on the work, you can clearly see the details in the photo. For example, you can see that the focus is on the front "flower" and the further back you look, the fainter the flower becomes.
While photographing, I chose this depth of field to create a sense of calm and depth in the work. A "simple still life in pink" can hang beautifully on the wall of, say, a hallway, dining room or just on the wall in the living room!
