Cortina d'Ampezzo lies in the heart of the Venetian Dolomites. The town is a renowned winter and mountain sports centre that hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics and the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1932, 1941 and 2021. Together with Milan, the town is set to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Cortina d'Ampezzo is one of the world's most elegant and popular ski resorts with an important tourist tradition. The unique natural backdrop of the Dolomites and the large number of lifts & cable cars make the resort a winter sports paradise unrivalled in the entire Alpine region, with slopes of all levels of difficulty that meet all requirements. There are the three ski areas Faloria, Tofana and Lagazuoi-5 Torri with a total of 38 lifts, 72 pistes (11 black, 28 red, 27 blue and 6 green) with a total of 120 kilometres of pistes.
The ski areas of Auronzo, Misurina and San Vito di Cadore are also located in the vicinity of Cortina d'Ampezzo with a total of 140 kilometres of pistes within the Dolomiti Superski area.
