An antique collection of European songbird eggs was photographed 1 by 1 by exposing each egg from the inside using a fibre optic. In this way, the relief structure of the eggshells became clearly visible as well as any crack or unevenness. In some eggs, part of the egg membrane was still present, visible on some eggs as internal shadows.
