A McDonnell Douglas EF-18A Hornet of the Spanish Air Force air-to-air in Belgian airspace photographed on September 7, 2018 during an air-to-air photo shoot.
Between November 1985 and July 1990, 60 McDonnell Douglas EF-18A Hornet single-seaters and 12 EF-18B Hornet two-seaters were delivered to the Spanish Air Force to replace the Dassault Mirage IIIs.
From 1995 to 1998, 24 F/A-18A were acquired from the US Navy by the Spanish Air Force.
All Hornets were upgraded to EF/A-18A+ and B+ standards equivalent to the F/A-18C and D versions.
