Abstract concrete art. This abstract artwork shows a beautiful star pattern with diagonal lines all running towards the centre of the artwork.
Concrete is widely used in construction. When you look at concrete up close, you discover the beautiful colours and textures of the different pebbles it contains.
Near me, a new road has been built. A road with several bridges over it. I regularly visited the construction project, especially to see if there were any interesting things to photograph.
At the construction site of one of the bridges, I discovered concrete rods. These rods were the waste from drill holes. These holes had been drilled with a diamond drill and were used to attach a bridge rail.
Using multiple exposures, I made two pictures of the rods interchangeably. This created a geometric pattern of oblique lines and angular shapes. I digitally duplicated and distorted this photo, creating this pattern of a star with slanted lines.
A nice contrast was created between the photographed hard material and the final artwork showing soft shapes. Shapes that resemble the feathers of a bird or the soft fur of a mammal.
The photo has a peaceful look due to the soft natural pastel colours in mainly grey, beige, brown and white.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
