Broad beans, the broad bean belongs to the butterfly flower family. The season falls in late spring to early summer. Beautiful large, fresh green pods lined inside with a soft felt layer containing the beans themselves. The beans have a fresh spring taste with 'green' notes. There is no arguing about taste, you either loathe broad beans or you love them. For me a feast the season of broad beans. Enjoying them for a while before they are shelled and go into the pan.
