The "Stolpbrug"(domed bridge) was designed by architect Joke Zaal and Jan Kramer as a combination of art and engineering. At twelve meters high with a tower on the eastern side it offers views of the Hondsbossche Zeedijk and the Haze- and Zijpe-Polders with the dunes in the background.
The bridge was made of Azobe wood which is an African wood that is extremely strong and weather-resistant as well as having very high durability.
The bridge is built on four pillars that absorb all the forces acting on the bridge. The skeleton designed as a see-through framework so that the construction of the square and the roof can be seen from all four sides.
The bridge has a stage for music and other performances.
