About "Stones on Junobeach, Normandy"

About the artwork

D-day, 6 June 1944.
The time has finally come: the invasion begins!
A huge sea and air fleet sets off from England for the Normandy coast.
From Junobeach, the Canadians' landing beach, the Allied armies advance further into Europe.
The battle was not yet over. A lot of blood would have to flow before peace was a fact.

Today, Courseulles sur Mer.
A peaceful and quiet town on the Normandy coast.
At first glance, there is little left of the fierce battle and smoking ruins.
Yet, on closer inspection, there are still more than enough indications that peace and freedom were expensively fought for here.
Lest we forget.

Most of the stones here on the beach have been smoothed by the sea in a years-long process.
How much time does humanity need to lose its sharp edges?
