On Bergen aan Zee's vast beach, weathered pile heads stand like sentinels in the sand. Their surface is overgrown with green algae and white barnacles, silent witnesses to the tides that come and go daily. The sky is heavy and threatening, filled with rain clouds drifting across the North Sea. The light is soft and filtered, making the wet sand and dark sky enhance each other in colour and contrast. A shallow channel meanders between the groynes and the beach, like a reminder of the recently departed tide. This scene breathes silence and strength, a moment of calm before the approaching storm. Bergen aan Zee shows its rougher side here, unadorned, pure nature.
