About ‘Structures and patterns!’ by Robert Kok

Structures and patterns.

Twice a day, the sea recedes from the Dutch Wadden Sea. As a result, part of the mudflat is left exposed. In English, this is known as ‘ "tidal flats" ’. As the top layer dries out, beautiful structures form on the sandy surface. Small streams of water flow between the exposed areas, and there are small pools of water. The exposed surface conceals a muddy subsoil in which you can easily get stuck. Furthermore, the exposed area is still teeming with invisible life.

The Wadden Sea is one of the last "tidal flats" areas in the world.

I took this photo at the start of the evening. I couldn’t help but sink into the mud through the dried-up top layer every now and then!

The evening light provided beautiful natural illumination, allowing me to capture the stunning textures of the exposed mudflats.

This photograph, on Dibond or acrylic, or as a print framed with a mat, will look stunning on the wall! A real eye-catcher!
