About the artwork
What a wonderful place to walk or cycle! This beautiful dune area consists of different types of nature. Sand dunes overgrown with marram grass, vast dune valleys with low vegetation including lichens and different types of shrubs here and there.
This photo was taken on the edge of the largest and highest dune area in the Netherlands: the Schoorl Dunes.
This dune area is home to a huge variety of plants but also to many animals including various bird species.
In this area, you can really get lost and walk without meeting other people. You really feel at one with nature.
I wanted to bring together the vast landscape of these dunes and the different vegetation in this photo.
The photo was taken on a warm late summer day late in the afternoon. The sunlight shines low over the dune valley, beautifully lighting up the yellow colour of the low vegetation. In the foreground a sand dune with marram grass, still completely in the sunlight.
