Dresden is a beautiful city in the east of Germany. The city on the Elbe was also called the Florence of Germany. The city with all its beautiful buildings was completely destroyed in the second world war. The ruins of the war disappeared behind the Iron Curtain and the decay of the city became worse and worse. After the unification in 1990 Dresden slowly recovered and the buildings were restored. Now the city is almost completely restored to its former glory. Especially the old centre is beautiful to see.
