The picture shows a woman, from her lips to a quarter of her upper arm, standing in the rain. Drops of water bead on her skin and glisten in the light, creating a serene and enchanting sight. Three delicate daisies grow from her skin: one on her trapezius, one just below her jaw and one on her upper arm. The flowers have white petals and a yellow heart, and their stems seem to sprout effortlessly from her body, as if they are an integral part of her. The combination of the raindrops and the flowers makes for a surreal and visually appealing scene, with the fragility of the daisies contrasting with the soft contours of her wet skin.
This picture symbolises how dark times can bring growth. The rain, often associated with gloom, nourishes the flowers growing out of the woman, showing that difficulties can also produce beauty and transformation. The composition highlights the harmony between the human skin and the delicate flowers, exuding a sense of serenity and wonder. The image invites reflection on how even in difficult times, there is room for growth and new forms of beauty.
The daisies on the woman's skin symbolise resilience and natural beauty that comes from trials. The raindrops reinforce this feeling, becoming the food source for the blooming of these delicate flowers. This artwork is a powerful visual metaphor for the positive changes that come from difficult periods in life, reminding us that even in the rain, beauty can bloom.
It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.
I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
