In Stuðlagil, you will find a perpendicular wall with columns of Basalt, a remnant of intense volcanic activity during the emergence of the Icelandic Iceland. The forces must have been enormous. By putting the Karahnjukur hydroelectric power plant into use, the river was partially dry and this surreal landscape emerged.
