Windmill "De Helper" on Paterswoldse Meer is a location where I can regularly be found to photograph around sunset. It is close to my own home, and the sun sets nicely behind the lake, and this often gives beautiful light. On this evening, I was lucky. It had rained all day, but just before sunset the clouds moved away. Behind the mill, you can just see them. This gave the warm light of the setting sun all the room it needed to pop through a clean rainy sky full on the mill and jetty. The wind almost died down, making the water nice and calm, so the mill reflected beautifully in the mirrored water. As icing on the cake, a beautiful heron sat down right in front of me to do his evening toilet. Sometimes these beautiful animals also sit still for seconds, just long enough for me to print for this photo.
