About "The Hidden Beauty of Stuðlagil"

About the artwork

Stuðlagil, the impressive basalt column canyon in eastern Iceland, was hidden from the world for a long time. It was only after the commissioning of the Karahnjúkar hydropower plant, which lowered the water level of the river Jökla, that the magnificent canyon became visible in all its grandeur. The deep valley, surrounded by the huge, hexagonal basalt columns, displays an enchanting view that seems to sprout from another era.

When the water level is low, the valley offers access to a hidden world of natural wonders. It is a place that looks like a living fairy tale, where the straight lines of the basalt columns rise from the turquoise water like a natural work of art. The silence of the canyon is almost magical, and you feel small in the shadow of the impressive rock formations. In this remote part of Iceland, nature seems to exist in its purest form, untouched and breathtakingly beautiful.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
