About ‘The Oldest Solitaire’ by Julie Herck

Rock. Water. Light. That is all nature needs to make a powerful statement.

This series captures the raw beauty of the coast at the moment where rock and sea meet. What appears simple at first glance reveals, on closer inspection, a world full of detail: the deep grooves in the rock, the white reflections of light gliding across the dark water, the shadowed hollows that hold something mysterious within them.

Photographed in high-contrast black and white with a pronounced film grain, these images take on a timeless, almost sculptural quality. No colour to distract. Only matter, light and silence.

This series is at home in a breathing interior, a space featuring concrete, natural stone or white plasterwork. For people who love tranquillity, depth and character. The images complement each other beautifully as a series, yet each image also stands strong on its own.

A reminder of what it feels like to stand somewhere where time stands still for a moment.

I am a Belgian visual artist, having graduated in Fine Arts Photography from LUCA School of Arts C-mine. Through digital and analogue photography and video, I explore what shapes people and worlds.

My work moves between the intimate and the grandiose. Sometimes it is a portrait, a memory, a trace of who someone is. Sometimes it is the raw power of a coastline, the weight of stone, the light falling on a place where time seems to stand…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
