The Precision Artifact by AWE by Haris Delic

The Precision Artifact transforms the familiar silhouette of a hand tool into an object whose purpose has become completely uncertain. The recognizable mechanics of pliers and a hammer-like form remain visible, yet every functional surface has been overtaken by elaborate craftsmanship. Dark polished wood, engraved bronze, turquoise enamel, mother-of-pearl inlay, floral motifs, filigree, and jewel-like details turn an ordinary utilitarian object into something closer to a ceremonial artifact.
The tension between function and ornament gives the work its character. Its jaws, handles, joints, and gripping surfaces imply force and mechanical precision, while the painstaking decorative treatment suggests that the object was never intended for an ordinary workshop. It appears functional enough to invite speculation, yet too precious and improbable to explain itself.
Rather than reproducing a historical object, the piece imagines a lost tradition of toolmaking in which engineering, jewelry, woodworking, and decorative art were treated as a single discipline. Beauty is not applied after function; it becomes part of the imagined mechanism itself.
The Precision Artifact asks what a tool might become when usefulness is allowed to evolve into craftsmanship, identity, and mystery.
