The Priesbergalm is an ingenious place in the Berchtesgaden National Park, right opposite the Watzmann with its notorious east face, deep below in the valley lies the Königssee, invisible from here. The rustic alpine huts, the lush pastures, the cows with their cowbells - it's all so beautiful that it looks far too kitschy, like something out of a 1960s film. But at the same time it's so genuine, so real, as if the world hadn't changed, as if time had stood still a little. Somehow we need places like this.
