South Africa is a country that managed to surprise me like no other. The country is of course very big, yet I had never considered that I could travel from the dry savannah to the beautiful coast in a few days.
Betty's Bay is one of the most famous bays in the Cape Town region. A narrow road follows the rugged coast, stringing together coastal towns. Around every corner awaits a new view that words cannot describe.
Betty's Bay was perhaps my favourite place in the Cape Town region. Because it was so beautiful, because the waves there broke so beautifully against the land. Because the mountains there were so steep and magnificent.
But secretly mostly because the coast there is inhabited by small schools of penguins. The funny critters regularly show themselves while hobbling on the beaches. With some luck, they even come closer. An unforgettable experience.
