The Willemsbrug often stands in the shadow of its younger sister, the Erasmusbrug. On paper, they are 15 years apart, but the Willemsbrug obviously has a much richer history, just think of the events that took place on this site during World War II.
The current Willemsbrug was opened in 1981. Pictured here is the top of one of the pylons with the pendants fanning out across the image.
By choosing a monochrome representation, I wanted to emphasise the length of the tethers and thus the height of the bridge.
