About "The explosion of colour and crystal"

by Gerry van Roosmalen

About the artwork

This image shows the power of colour and chaos, an explosion permeating the image with an energy racing from left to right. It seems as if a rainbow has been torn apart in full burst, not as a gentle arc of the spectrum, but as a rough trajectory of pastel colours that pull through the image with an almost violent force.

These colours are not random - they seem stuck to a pattern of crystals, like an elusive symbiosis of order and chaos. The crystals form the basis of this explosion, a network of structure and geometry traversed by the powerful colour shocks, almost as if pulled apart by the intensity of the energy undulating through them.

The pastel colours slowly fade from one side to the other, adding to the dynamics of the image. It is a visual flow of energy, a moment when colours are not only seen, but almost physically felt. It is not a calm rainbow, but rather a ferocious explosion of light and crystal, caught in a moment of chaos.

This work challenges the viewer to look beyond traditional images of colour to a power that transcends the mundane and focuses on the unbridled power of nature and light. It is a reminder of the elusive power that lies behind our perception, always in motion and always changing.
