Urbex photo in an abandoned outbuilding in a Belgian castle.
This lamp no longer works.
What is striking is the beautiful light falling through the window frame onto the torn fabric of the lampshade. The window glass is opaque...from tarnish and cobwebs. The wood is charred and rotten, but barely holds the glass in place.
Not only is the fabric of the lampshade broken, the shade itself and the stand are bent. The tassels have stood the test of time remarkably well.
Only a faint silhouette is visible of the forest outside.
An atmospheric image of decay. Urbex (urban exploring) has its charm.
Usually these kinds of photos are rendered in muted colours, but I opted for black and white for a more nostalgic feel.
