The photo shows the approach to Wismar city centre from the north. The journey continues along Poeler Straße through a 177 metre long trough, which carries the railway across the road in the direction of the seaport. The nave and tower of St Nikolai's Church and the door of St Mary's Church in the background are in the foreground. Both are among Wismar's examples of brick Gothic architecture.
