If you're going to photograph you always have to make choices. Not only in terms of settings, etc., but of course also in terms of your choice of lens.
On this beautiful summer evening in northern Iceland, I had the noble idea to go on the water with a 400mm fixed lens for a change. Unfortunately, I can't zoom in or out with that lens and so I am entirely dependent on how close or far away we see the whales.
In this case I was unlucky, the whale was actually swimming just a few meters from the boat and so the tail and the golden water did not fit entirely in the frame. On the one hand I was disappointed because the light was so beautiful, but when I looked at the photo later I was not entirely dissatisfied. I think it is a kind of arti photo with that beautiful sunlight, the details in the drops that fall from the tail and in the whole the tail is still very recognizable. A stroke of luck by accident ;)
