A tribute to Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) he was a Dutch painter. His work falls under post-impressionism, an art movement that succeeded nineteenth-century impressionism. His influence on expressionism, fauvism and early abstraction was enormous and can be seen in many other aspects of twentieth-century art. In 1883, he went to live with his parents in Nuenen, which was an ideal environment for a 'peasant painter'. Many farmers, farm workers and weavers lived there. Vincent sketched and painted them whenever he could. The Potato Eaters is one of the works from this period. The Kröller-Müller Museum houses the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world. Van Gogh is considered one of the greatest painters of the 19th century. However, this recognition came late.
