Common cranes are popular birds with their red caps. They are large and their trumpeting sound is emphatic and carries far. As migratory birds, they make long journeys and that too appeals to the imagination. Along the way, they stop over at fixed stopping places in agricultural landscapes. The image shows two common cranes in the grass during migration. A gentle rain is falling from the sky. The foreground and background are beautifully out of focus and the poses of the animals complement each other well.
