On the Greek island of Kos, a stray dog lies in a quiet corner of the street. Half asleep, body relaxed against the cold stones. Two moments earlier she was still sleeping, but my presence seems to have gently awakened her.
The colour of her fur almost makes her disappear into the background, but she is there all the same.
The image shows both her vulnerability and her alterity, inviting the viewer to take a moment to reflect on an everyday scene that might otherwise go unnoticed. This is not just a portrait of a dog, but a moment of encounter, of mutual observation, of a silence that manifests for a moment between man and animal.
