The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a redesigned two-seater version of the modern naval attack fighter F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Growler was phased in to the U.S. Navy from 2007.
Designed for electronic warfare, the Boeing EA-18G was developed to replace the ageing Grumman EA-6 Prowler. This aircraft was introduced in 1971 and has reached the end of its operational life after years of use.
This picture was taken on 9 October 2012 during a base visit to Naval Air Station Fallon. This is main air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility of the U.S. Navy. The Naval Fighter Weapons School, better known as TOPGUN, has been based here since 1996.
