2013 Acrylic on canvas I couldn't part with this canvas. I had fought with it many times, but was never satisfied with the result. Each time I tried not to paint over interesting parts but to tighten up the whole. Until it suddenly occurred to me that there should be something simple and concise in the middle. I opted for a body, but wanted to treat it more like a plane so it didn't draw too much attention.
In terms of form, I found it captivating. Shining through the body is still the image of the sailor who first stood there. He looks at the woman and understands, everything now gets a place. Hence the addition of the phrase: ?En un quart de seconde, je compris.
