About ‘Under pressure’ by Eric Boer

Sometimes a feeling from a dream lingers even after you’ve woken up.

*Onder druk* came about after I had several dreams in which I couldn’t breathe. That same suffocating feeling returned and ultimately formed the starting point for this work. I didn’t want to depict that dream literally, but rather to translate the feeling it evoked into shapes, lines and movement.

At the centre is a large green area that appears to be enclosed from various sides. White lines run across and alongside the area, whilst jagged, almost quivering lines cut through the composition. Surrounding it are dark shapes in black, brown, green and ochre. This creates the sensation that various forces are simultaneously pressing down on the centre.

The coarse brushstrokes and visible movement in the lines are a deliberate part of the image. Nothing is entirely smooth or still. Yet the muted natural colours ensure that the work does not feel solely heavy. There remains room to discover something else in it for oneself.

For me, *Onder druk* depicts the moment when space seems to be getting smaller and smaller. As if something is being compressed and breathing freely becomes more difficult. My personal starting point was my dream, but the meaning need not stop there for the viewer.

With its earthy colours, powerful lines and abstract composition, it is a striking piece for a modern, industrial or natural interior.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
