The Chrysler Building is 319 metres high and has 77 floors. This made it the tallest building in the world from its opening in 1930 until the completion of the Empire State Building in 1931. In September 2019, it was still ranked 11th on the list of tallest buildings in New York and 31st on the list of tallest buildings in the world. Among other things, it is known for its Art Deco-style design, its spire and car's-inspired ornaments. This photo was taken from the roof of the building. The picture shows an urban landscape with many skyscrapers and buildings whose windows are illuminated, creating a sparkling effect against the dark background. On the right side of the image, a wide, illuminated street or avenue is visible that cuts through the urban landscape like a luminous line. The pattern of illuminated windows in the buildings creates a kind of grid pattern that emphasises the geometric structure of the city. The black-and-white composition enhances the contrast between light and dark, resulting in a dramatic and atmospheric image of urban nightlife.
