From the northern promenade at the level of the Domme cliffs, the promenade des falaises, or the La Barre panoramic terrace, you can see the Dordogne valley as far as Beynac to the west and the Cingle de Montfort to the east. The promenade is a highly frequented and popular viewpoint because of its unique panorama, which changes according to the time of day and the season.
Domme [dɔm] (from Occitan Doma) is a French commune with 907 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2020) in the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Built in the Middle Ages as a bastide on a 250-metre-high rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne, it is now considered one of the most beautiful villages in France in the Les plus beaux villages de France association and is a major tourist attraction in the Périgord Noir region. Domme is also known as the Acropolis of the Périgord.
