A view from the Tofane ski area over Cortina d'Ampezzo to Monte Faloria, a 2,352 m high mountain in the Ampezzo Dolomites.
The Tofane triumvirate is one of the best-known and most striking Dolomite massifs. The Tofane lie to the west of Cortina d'Ampezzo and tower over the Valle del Boite. The three peaks are among the highest peaks in the Dolomites. As part of the Ampezzo Dolomites Nature Park, the Tofana near Cortina is probably the most impressive backdrop framing the Ampezzo Valley.
The slopes of the Tofana ski area are of medium difficulty, all facing east and surrounded by a magnificent and spectacular landscape with a marvellous view of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The "Tofana" is a ski race course on which the men's downhill of the 1956 Winter Olympics was held. It has regularly hosted women's World Cup races since 1974.
The municipality is located in the Italian province of Belluno in Veneto in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the heart of the mountains.
