About ‘View from the castle’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

Nowadays there's little left to defend, but in the days when the Castelo de São Jorge was actually used to defend the city of Lisbon, as a soldier you must have enjoyed going to work with this view. :D

The Castelo de São Jorge or the Castle of St. George is Lisbon's most famous castle. It lies on the highest hill in the city and overlooks the wide Tagus (Rio Tejo). It is one of Lisbon's most famous tourist attractions. The foundations of the castle date back to the 6th century BC. In 1147, the castle was conquered from the Moors during the siege of Lisbon.

From the castle one has a wide view over the city.

The first fortifications on this hilltop date from the second century B.C. but archaeological research has shown that people already lived here in the sixth century B.C. and possibly even earlier. The hill was used by local Celtic and Iberian tribes but also other peoples (Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians) left their traces there. Later Romans, Sueben, Visigoths and Moors settled where the castle now stands.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
