During our photo week on the Opal Coast in Normandy, we were lucky with the tides: it was always low tide at sunrise when we were on the beach at Cap Gris-Nez. So we could walk far up the beach without the danger of a sudden rising tide. From this beach, you can see the other cape, Cap Blanc-Nez, very nicely. Once the sun is up and it starts getting light, the sea and sky take on golden hues. Even the overturning wave turns orange-gold! I chose a slightly slower shutter speed so that there is some dynamic movement in the water. In the distance, you can see the familiar rows of poles of the Opal Coast. These are the poles on which mussels are grown. The limited colour palette of this image really appealed to me. I find the atmosphere very serene.
