Passau was an unscheduled stop on the way back home. Just across the border from Austria lies this crown jewel in Bavaria, Germany that is. Three rivers converge here. The Inn, Danube and Ilz, and you can see the different colours of water flowing side by side as you look at the rivers from Veste Oberhaus.
This photo was taken in the park of the Drieflüsseeck, the corner of the three streams. A quiet park that you only get to if you manage to make your way through the old historic city centre.
You have great views of the surrounding area. And there is beautiful art to see such as the Planetenweg, an installation of different shapes representing planets, with the bronze sphere you see being the sun.
And what a city! Not only full of historical buildings, it is also a lively city with lots of jazz and students. We were only there briefly, but I can really recommend this green, historic city between the rivers to anyone. Full of surprises, like the road to the altstadt via the old railway.
