About the artwork

This one caught me completely off guard. I hadn’t planned on shooting—it was just a walk with the camera over my shoulder. But then this lone sailboat drifted into the light, and everything around it turned into silver. The sea stopped looking like water and became a field of light, each wave catching the sun and scattering it in a thousand directions.

I composed it with a lot of negative space to emphasize that sense of isolation and stillness. The boat sits just above center, breaking the rhythm of the glittering surface without disrupting it. What I liked most was how minimal it felt, even though the surface was so busy with texture. The photo almost looks black and white, even though it’s not—it’s just the way the light behaved. The contrast came naturally; no post-processing needed to boost it. Sometimes everything aligns in a quiet way, and you just press the shutter.
