Emerald lake gets its name from the beautiful colour of the water. It is meltwater from the mountains. The grit from the rock walls that comes with the water, combined with light from the sun, gives the lakes their beautiful blue colour.
Emerald Lake, located in Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada, is an enchanting destination known for its vibrant emerald colour, caused by fine glacial deposits. Surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains and lush forests, the lake offers breathtaking views and a plethora of recreational activities. In summer, visitors can enjoy hiking, canoeing and fishing, while in winter the area turns into a paradise for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The lake is easily accessible via the Trans-Canada Highway and features facilities such as the historic Emerald Lake Lodge. The area is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including deer, moose, bears and several bird species. A protected area under Parks Canada, Emerald Lake remains a pristine and natural treasure in the Canadian Rockies, ideal for both adventure and relaxation.
