During our trip through Switzerland, there was one place I definitely wanted to see with my own eyes. The imposing Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in Switzerland and in the Alps. Who doesn't fall silent at the sight of so much violence. Look at how the enormous mass of ice has carved its way through the valley!
We took the cable car to lookout point Eggishorn and from there you have a great view of the glacier and the surrounding mountains with snowy white peaks. Then we hiked to the alpine hut Gletsjerstube Marjelen and then even further to the edge of the Glacier.
What a spectacle! How long will the glacier last? They themselves estimate it at 2080, I find it to cry and almost impossible to imagine. In any case, I am very happy that we were able to see something so beautiful for ourselves.
