Vincent van Gogh's self-portrait in a new look.
The contrast between the online and offline world, is time.
Offline gives you time to look, to experience. Gives you the opportunity to be in the moment. To embrace that time to give you more depth. Your own time. Time with added value. Precious time...
The only time when time is clearly present in the online world is when the wifi leaves us for a while. And loading input takes a little longer. A short circuit in speed. You don't want that, you want to see immediately what is in front of you on the screen as in real life...Because that is the added value. Precious time...
Wait for it.
This conceptual work is a nice combination between old and contemporary. Fits any interior. Work with humor and idea.
Michel Rijk, a creative living in the south of the Netherlands. Is married to Charlotte and together they have two daughters. He gets his inspiration from all kinds of music, art, nature, everyday moments and encounters. From an early age, Rijk has been drawing. So it was no surprise that he chose the advertising side.Hence his approach. Strongly visual and always with an idea, a story, a thought.
His mind is always looking for the connection between opposites. Putting object and their meaning in a different perspective. Creating a new way of seeing. Words are like images, each image tells a story. Visual words. A perspective shift that can create a beautiful, imaginative and sometimes alienating perspective. In addition to visual photographic work, Rijk also illustrates. In which he tries to make it as abstract as possible without losing its meaning and power. Trying to simplify to clarify.
Words are like images and each image tells a story.
