We had gotten up at 5:30 for the 900-meter climb out of Death Valley, with Zabriskie Point as our breakfast stop. We thought: just another view like the ones we’d already seen from the bike. But Zabriskie Point took us by surprise. The marbled hills, with their stunning flowing lines, were begging to be photographed.
