The blue magpie (Cyanopica cyanus), also known as the Iberian blue magpie or simply blue jay, is a conspicuous bird in the crow family (Corvidae). This bird is found in parts of south-western Europe, especially in Spain and Portugal, but also in parts of eastern Asia (where a slightly different subspecies lives). Because of their striking colours and lively behaviour, blue magpies are popular species among nature lovers and photographers - especially at sunrise or in soft light, their colours stand out beautifully.
