The stone with which Indians carved the Werephai rock carvings 7000 years ago. Werephai is an archaeological site in the south of Suriname near the village of Kwamalasamutu and consists of several caves in which petroglyphs (petroglyphs) of pre-colombian origin can be found. With 313 identified petroglyphs, Werephai is by far the largest pre-Columbian find in Surinam and probably of the Guyanas. The petroglyphs date from 5000-4000 BC.
