About ‘What floats’ by Friso Creates

In the early morning, the world hangs between breaths. The water lies still as glass, the sky is soft pink and blue, and the fog almost completely erases the horizon. A lone hot air balloon floats above the landscape, detached from earth and direction. Below it floats an abandoned boat, unmoving, as if waiting or just abandoned.

The reflection in the water blurs the boundary between above and below. The balloon seems as likely to sink as rise, while the boat seems to float. There is no clear action, no story with beginning or end - just a moment where everything is balanced for a moment.

This image is about distance and connection at the same time. About travelling without departure, about standing still without heaviness. The balloon and the boat seem each other's opposites, but share the same stillness. As if they recognise each other, each in their own way detached from what once held them.

It is a scene that demands not explanation, but delay. An image that lingers, like mist over water, just before the day really begins.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
